About Me

I grew up in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.

I have a mom who's a novelist (www.josephinecarr.com), a dad who's a doctor/hospital administrator, and a brother who's a teacher/aspiring musician (http://www.myspace.com/dsusmusic).

I am almost done collecting degrees, as soon as I finish the current one.  I have a BA in cognitive science from Yale, an MA in cognitive psychology from Harvard (an aborted PhD, actually), and an MD underway at Stanford.

I met my husband in college.  He is a very smart, incredibly emotionally intelligent, Taiwanese-American guy who is good at every sport he has ever tried.  Luckily, I can beat him at Scrabble.

I lived in Belgium for a year as an exchange student in high school, and in China for two years after leaving graduate school.  So I speak French, and my Mandarin is O.K.--I can keep up my end of a casual conversation, anyway.

I think I've finally settled on a career, after trying academic psychology and teaching:  I'm gonna be a doctor!

I got pregnant during my second year of medical school; took my boards 7.5 months along, and then had my daughter.  I'm taking most of a year mostly off before starting clinical rotations in the spring.
